Tadalafil 40 mg (Cialis): treating ED by relaxing Penis muscles.
tadalafil at 40 mg is used primarily for the following purposes:
1. Treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED)
Mechanism for action:
-Tadalafil inhibits the enzyme phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE-5). This enzyme is responsible for degrading nitrogen monoxide (no)-cyclic monophosphate guanosin dependent (cGMP) in the vascular smooth muscle of the penis. By inhibiting PDE-5, tadalafil increases cGMP levels, resulting in smooth muscle relaxation and increased blood flow to the penis, facilitating erection.
Effectiveness in SD:
-help men achieve and maintain an erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual activity.
2. Treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (HTAP)
Mechanism at HTAP:
-also inhibiting PDE-5, tadalafil promotes relaxation of pulmonary blood vessels. This reduces pulmonary blood pressure, improving cardiopulmonary capacity and exercise tolerance in patients with HTAP.
However, the administration of tadalafil should be monitored by a doctor as it may have interactions with other medicines and is not suitable for all patients, for example those with certain serious heart problems or who are taking certain nitrate medicines.
