Dapoxetine for prematurity Ejaculation, not Erectile Dysfunction
Tadalafil (tadalafil) is a drug used primarily for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) and benign prostate hypertrophy (HBP). In the long term, you may have the following side effects:
1. Cardiovascular effects
Arterial hypertension: in some rare cases, tadalafil may cause a slight increase in blood pressure. This is particularly important in patients with pre-existing cardiovascular problems.
Heart problems: although not common, cases of tachycardia (accelerated heart rhythm) and other adverse cardiovascular events have been reported in patients taking tadalafil in the long term.
2. Effects on the visual system
Changes in vision: some patients may experience changes in vision, such as blurred vision or changes in color perception. These effects are usually mild and transient, but in rare cases they may persist or worsen with prolonged use.
Glaucoma: there is a potential, albeit very low, risk that tadalafil may trigger an attack of acute glaucoma (a sudden increase in intraocular pressure) in predisposed patients.
3. Digestive effects
Abdominal pain: chronic or intermittent abdominal pain may occur with long-term use. This may be associated with changes in gastrointestinal motility or indirect effects on the digestive system.
Nausea and vomiting: although not the most common side effects, some patients may experience nausea and vomiting, which can affect quality of life and adherence to treatment.
4. Muscle and bone effects
Muscle pain: some patients have reported widespread muscle pain or in thighs and hips. This may be related to changes in muscle perfusion or metabolic interactions at the muscle level.
Bone problems: there is a potential, but not very clear, risk that tadalafil may affect bone density in the long term. Some studies have suggested a possible association with changes in bone homeostasis.
5. Hormonal and reproductive effects
Changes in testicular function: in preclinical studies and some clinical cases, it has been suggested that tadalafil could have an effect on testicular function, which could affect testosterone production and spermatogenesis. However, further research is needed to confirm these human effects.
Effects on female fertility: although not well known, there is a possibility that tadalafil may have some impact on female fertility, as it can affect blood circulation in female reproductive organs.
It is important to note that most side effects are rare and that therapeutic benefit in the treatment of ED and HBP often outweighs potential risks. However, any patient who takes tadalafil in the long term should be monitored periodically by a doctor to detect and manage possible side effects.
